Sonoma Skies is the official newsletter of the Sonoma County Astronomical Society. You can find information on upcoming club activities, special events, and articles related to astronomy in general. Our newsletter is published monthly, and is available to members by mail.
The Solar Wind: you,ve probably heard of it, and maybe you've wondered what it really is. How can there be a wind in the vacuum of space? What kind of wind could the sun possibly generate? How does it affect the solar system? Please join us at the October Young Astronomers meeting to learn about this fascinating phenomenon. YA vice-president Geoffrey Knoll will discuss what the solar wind is, how it was discovered, how it affects us here on Earth, and whether we can harness it for our own use.
As always, if the sky is clear, please bring your telescope for a viewing opportunity after the general meeting. We hope to see you there!
Article Submission: We encourage article submissions by members related to announcements, letters, or photos. The deadline for the next month's issue is always the 20th day of the month. Send your articles to the Newsletter Editor.
